This key is hand crafted out of thick brass sheet and wire. It measures 2 2/3 inches in height by 1 inch in width. It hangs on a 20" black leather cord. Rather than going with my traditional semi-polished sand blasted finish, I just went with a regular polish this time.
Wow, this is really amazing craftsmanship. The solder joints are practically invisible, and the polish is absolutely impeccable. What is your finishing technique? I'm guessing filing and sandpaper to smooth the edges of the sheet brass, then polishing compound on a wheel?
I was thinking of making a set of these keys for myself, but seeing them done so perfectly has somewhat drained my motivation.
Thanks very much! It all comes from years of practice. The finish is a combined effort of sand blasting to get into the deep crevices, Buffing on a polish machine, then dropped into a tumbler to even out the finish. They look really amazing in person!
