One of a Kind
I was going to wait a week to post these, but I couldn't!
The very talented artist
asked me to make these wedding bands for herself and her fiancé. She makes awesome art like this:
Be sure to check her out!
This is my first time making pony themed jewelry using other methods outside of hand fabrication.
These sterling silver wedding bands were designed using my 3Design CAD CAM software. That information was then sent to my milling machine, which carved wax replicas of my designs. Those wax replicas were then cast into sterling silver using the lost wax process of casting.
The ladies band features Princess Cadence's cutie mark, which was coated with transparent blue and yellow enameling. The men's band features Shining Armor's cutie mark, which was antiqued black. Both bands have a straight taper to them, making them wider at the top, then at the bottom. This gave me more of a "canvas" to feature each cutie mark on, without making the rings to big and bulky, and uncomfortable to wear. Each band has a brushed finish on the inside and top, with the sides polished.
I'm hoping to do more pony themed jewelry using my 3Design software. I have about 5 years of experience with this program, and with it, the sky's the limit! I can make just about anything that isn't an optical illusion. At the same time, I don't want to stray away from hand fabrication entirely. Hand fabrication is still my favorite method of design. I might even do designs combining both!
If you have any questions about my 3Design CAD CAM software, or about the process of lost wax casting, feel free to ask!
